Panic in the skies! In October 1987, Wytheville, Virginia, experienced a bizarre UFO flap, complete with Men in Black reports and strange, albeit all-too-human, visitors to town. Decades later, in November 2024, the NJ drone flap was the most recent concentrated wave of strange objects in the skies.
In this episode, we dive into the stranger aspects of these waves, digging into period media accounts that reveal the forgotten parts of the story, while discussing how the ideas of legendary Fortean/UFOlogist John Keel would apply.

Osprey aircraft now fly out of the Wytheville Va area almost daily. The osprey was made public in 1989. There is a major WWII & after weapons factory about 30 miles north of Wytheville that has the longest airport runway in the region next to it. I had just moved to the area of Wytheville when the flap happened & worked in local radio with Danny Gordon’s brother. I’ve never heard anyone else say so but it seems clear to me now that some people saw tests of osprey prototypes in 1988. They are definitely NOT silent crafts but shock, fear & mountain air can make sounds play tricks.
